CUSTOM ORTHOTICS
Custom foot orthotics are designed around your specific biomechanics, your unique foot shape, and the demands of your daily life. A certified clinician assesses your gait, identifies the source of your pain or dysfunction, and designs a device built precisely to address it.
Every PBO Group orthotic is made by our own in-house team — which means direct quality control from cast to final product, and a team that stands behind what they make.
what about store-bought?
Pre-made orthotics from a drugstore or online retailer are designed to fit the average foot. They can offer some relief for minor discomfort, but they cannot address the specific biomechanical causes of pain the way a custom device can.
Custom orthotics may cost more upfront, but they last longer, perform better, and are more likely to produce lasting results. And for many clients, a portion of the cost is covered by private insurance.

Coverage options include:

Getting Started
How are custom orthotics different from pre-made or off-the-shelf orthotics I can order online or buy at the drugstore?
There are many factors that set custom orthotics apart from pre-made and off-the-shelf orthotics. Read this blog post to learn more.
What kind of conditions can orthotics help address?
Orthotics can help with a wide variety of conditions and pains. Here is a list of some conditions we commonly treat with orthotics:

How much will my custom foot orthotics cost?
The cost of custom foot orthotics varies from $450 to $650 depending on the type of the device designed and created to meet your unique needs.
Are orthotics covered by OHIP / Assistive Devices Program (ADP)?
No, orthotics are not covered by OHIP / ADP but are often covered by private insurance programs and WSIB.

Does PBO Group make its foot orthotics?
Yes, all foot orthotics provided by PBO Group are custom-made by our talented in-house team.
Do your foot orthotics come with a warranty?
Assuming normal usage, all custom-made devices are warrantied against defects for 6 months. Fit and function for these devices is warranted for three months after final fit, with the exception of cases of significant changes in weight.
Assuming normal usage, custom-made paediatric devices are warrantied against defects for two months. Fit and function for these devices is warranted for one month.
For soft supports, pre-made devices, shoes, costmetic elements and consumables, these are solely covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
How long will my foot orthotics last?
Foot orthotics will last anywhere between one to five years depending on the amount of use and the environment. While some people will wear the same pair for longer than this they usually lose their alignment and cushioning over time, making them less effective.
Some people may benefit from annual re-assessment. Talk to your provider to see what is recommended for your situation.
Do I need a larger shoes size to fit my foot orthotics?
It may be necessary to increase the length or width of your shoes by a half size depending on the shoe style however, that is not always the case. Your Orthotist will be able to advise you on your shoe selection.
Can I wear different kinds of shoes with my foot orthotics?
Your foot orthotics can be moved between shoes as long as the shoes are of an appropriate style to function well with your devices. Your Orthotist will be able to advise you on your shoe selection.
Care & Maintenance
How do I maintain and/or clean my foot orthotics?
There is no need to maintain your foot orthotics in any way other than cleaning them. You can clean them using warm water and a mild soap with a soft cloth to wipe all surfaces. Once clean they should be left to air dry. Do not heat your orthotics to dry them.
Can I get my foot orthotics wet?
Foot orthotics can get wet without harm, however it is advised that moisture be kept to a minimum and that they be left to air dry (no heat) if they do become wet.
